Big Night for Cody

Cody had such an exciting night - he took his very first steps on his own tonight!!

YEAH!!!!  :)

He did it at least 6-8 times where he walked about 4-6 steps each go at it - usually from me to Gordon - or Gordon to me - or Gordon to the floor...!  LOL.  I didn't get it on video but hopefully we will later this week or weekend.

I wrote this momentous occasion on my calendar!

EXCITING!!  It was so funny because we were all in the living room doing our own things...and I look up and Cody is standing up and WALKING towards the TV!  Gordon also looked up from what he was doing and saw Cody on the move, too!!  So crazy - we were shocked.

Here is a picture of him soon afterwards - he was pretty excited and definitely darn proud of himself!

Now...if he sleeps past 4:30 am, I will be really happy!

Recent Deal Shopping

I've managed to get in on some good shopping deals over the last week or so.  I made a couple runs to Walgreens last week, and got free shaving gel, 12 bottles of free trial size Dove deodorant, 50 cent coffee creamer and various other things.  Not much exciting at Walgreens this week, so I'll hope for good deals next week to use my Register Rewards on.

I did take advantage of what I thought was a good deal at Cub Foods last week.  They had a promotion where if you bought $25 worth of Huggies products, you would get a $5 coupon to use on a future visit, along with a $3 coupon good towards any Culinary Circle brand product (one of their new store brands; they have crackers, cookies and other stuff so will be easy to use these up w/o any or much out of pocket $).  I combined this deal along with the $3 and $5 Huggies coupons that were online a few weeks ago.  Cub takes expired coupons up to 3 months, and I had recently traded for a few more.

Diapers were $10.29 for a 30-pack less the $3.00 mftg coupon less the $8.00 in register coupons, so I ended up getting 3 packages of diapers for a total of $13.87 or $4.25 each.  I also did this deal with the Huggies wipes that I had $5.00 coupons on, and they basically paid me to take those out of the store.  I didn't see this deal online anywhere, but I thought it was pretty good.

Here's a quick photo of my stockpile!  We should be set on diapers & wipes for awhile!

Easter 2009

Happy Spring!

I haven't had much time to blog lately...we've been spending a lot of time outdoors as the weather has been absolutely phenomenal here!  It's definitely a good thing for all of us here to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

We hosted Easter at our home this year.  Gordon pointed out to me that we have hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas AND Easter this year!  All the major "big meal" holidays from what I can think of.  Wow.  It's easier for people to come to us now that we have a little one.

For Easter this year, we had Gordon's parents visiting us from Colorado, and sister-in-law Joann also came over for Easter dinner (my brother was out of town).  Unfortunately, we didn't take too many photos and I didn't even have a chance to buy Cody a cute baby-boy Easter outfit.  I didn't dare break out the bunny ears this year ~ he's just too much of a little boy!

Grandma A. did send Cody a few Easter goodies ~ a card, some handmade drool bibs, a stuffed bunny, and a couple smock-bibs to hopefully catch all his crumbs and milk he likes to spill out of his mouth.  Here's a couple photos of him opening his box and of him being a goon!

Grandma and Grandpa H. got him two little cars/trucks, two small squishy balls and a larger ball.  He LOVES playing ball and will throw it back and forth with you on the floor.  Sorry I didn't get a photo of this...I was not a good photographer over the weekend.

Bad Mommy & Daddy didn't get Cody anything for Easter!  I thought about a chocolate bunny, but I figured there will be years of us being able to get him chocolate bunnies, and he won't know the difference anyway :-)

When Auntie Joann was at our house, she brought along her haircutting supplies and gave Cody a haircut!  It was getting a little bit long.  He sat VERY good for her in his high chair, although at one point, he wondered what in the heck she was up to:

Finally, here's a picture of Cody with Gram & Gramp Hart right before they left our house to do some more visiting with other family members.

Happy Easter!

13 Months Old

I will post a message later, but just wanted to share a picture of our most favorite 13 month old ever!

Haven't blogged lately...

...I guess that's stating the obvious, isn't it?

Been in kind of a "funk" lately, haven't been online as much as usual.  I'm not sure what exactly is causing it...mainly family issues and the weather, I think.  Hopefully it'll warm up soon (but not *too* warm for the up north peeps) and the sunshine will be out more consistently.

It's been a good weekend, a pretty quiet one... Gordon and I did have a date night on Saturday (thanks C & J for watching Cody!!) so it was really good for us to get out and do something without the little one in tow.  Sure, we have our time without him while we go to work, but it's not the same as doing something fun together without constantly having to worry about what we're going to feed him, cleaning up the milk spilling out of his mouth, making sure he's not falling down, verifying he's not putting Lord knows what in his mouth, etc.  Oh, the joys of being a parent!!  Still, there is nothing like coming home from a few hours away and seeing your precious one sound asleep, comfy as can be in his crib, and knowing  you missed him the entire time you were away.

Anyway, thought I'd let whoever know that we're still here and doing OK, but prayers for some sunshine & better attitudes would certainly be appreciated...
